Two brands, one goal

Gentle heat, controlled combustion, and a compact design for contemporary interiors.

Tulikivi Jero (Finland) and Tonwerk (Switzerland) offer reliable, compact masonry heaters. At Carron-Lugon, we regularly install them in French-speaking Switzerland and throughout the country.

Based on our showroom experience, we often recommend Tulikivi Jero for its value for money in heat storage: soapstone construction, prolonged heat release, and exceptional durability. Tonwerk remains an excellent Swiss alternative, especially for those on a tighter budget.

History of the Manufacturers

1872
Tonwerk
Tonwerk was founded in Lausen, Switzerland. For many years, the company has been developing its expertise in clay, fire, and refractory materials.
1980
Tulikivi
Tulikivi begins soapstone mining in Finland: a local material that stores heat and releases it for hours on end.
1993
Tonwerk
Launch of the first Tonwerk storage stove, manufactured in Switzerland. The lineup was later expanded to include compact models such as the T-TWO line.
2023
Tulikivi Jero
Introducing the Jero Compact Series: stove-style design, soapstone mass, and optimized flue gas flow for contemporary interiors.

Tulikivi Jero: soapstone heater

Stone is at the heart of the stove—it’s not just for decoration.

Made entirely of soapstone, with the exception of the air intake, the door, and the flue. Heat is stored within the stone itself and released over a longer period as gentle radiant heat.

This is the key difference from a simple stone cladding: the mass continues to provide heat for hours after the fire has gone out.

Tonwerk: Swiss refractory concrete

Sturdy construction, quick to heat up.

Steel frame and refractory concrete heat-storage mass surrounding the firebox. Meticulous finish, cubist design, and excellent Swiss craftsmanship.

The T-TWO, T-ART, and T-LINE models are ideal choices for those seeking an affordable, compact stove that heats up quickly and features a contemporary design.

Flue Gas Flow

An internal path designed to transfer as much heat as possible to the mass.

In the Tulikivi Jero and Tonwerk compact stoves, the smoke follows a carefully designed path before exiting through the flue. This design allows for one to two fires per day, followed by hours of radiant heat.

On a Jero, the soapstone mass continues to provide comfort even after the fire has gone out.
